New Manuscript Smell

I’ve broken ground on a new manuscript. It doesn’t have a title yet, but the idea is a modern Pride & Prejudice trapped in a cabin.

Here’s the very first two paragraphs:

Why didn’t the car spin out in the snow? Nothing dramatic that’d require an ambulance or the jaws of life, just a minor hiccup in her travel plans to delay her. But no, Beth couldn’t be that lucky.

Wringing her hands over the rented Civic’s steering wheel, she glared out through the stark white landscape. It’d started muddy and grey, dawn hours off when she left New York. Six hours later, knee deep into Vermont’s snow-capped mountains, the sapphire skies did nothing to evaporate the dread in her heart.
