Day Shift with M.D. Dalrymple

M.D. Dalrymple

Give us the one to two sentence tagline for your book.

Officer Garza is a happily married dad of three. Will this blonde cause him to lose it all?

What surprised you the most while writing this book?

I get to hear the best stories when my hubby comes home from work. He is a cop, and I pick the best stories he brings home and work them into books.

Why did you pick the setting you used for your book?

I wanted it to NOT be the city where my hubby works. And I didn’t want LAPD – too cliche. But it also had to be an area with which I am familiar.

What is the sexiest trait of your hero?

I’d have to pick between his intense eyes, or his tight butt!

What is your favorite scene/moment in your book?

When he tells his wife that she is just as beautiful after three kids as when he met her.

What scene did you have to cut but wish could have been included?

Maybe more about how they had to solve the case. But I don’t write crime, so I crafted a simpler ending.

Tropes get a bad name, but they’re often the biggest draw for readers. What tropes do you love to write and read?

I LOVE historical romance, police romance, second chance romance. I am slowly getting into paranormal romance, but I am picky about those stories.

What are your favorite genres/sub-genres to write in? Are there any you love to read but cannot write in?

I also write scottish historical romance, heavy on the history. I adore the time of Robert the Bruce, so his rise to become King is the focus of much of that writing. I also love to read horror/ thriller, but I don’t think I can write that.

Which do you love to write best: dialogue, setting, action, love scenes, or other?

I love snazzy, engaging dialogue. And if I’m reading a book and don’t buy the dialogue, I struggle to finish the book.

Which do you hate to write: dialogue, setting, action, love scenes, or other?

Action. I feel like I either do too much or not enough!

Excerpt from Day Shift

She placed her hand on his wide chest, and now with the absence of his vest, the heat of her skin permeated the thin fabric of his t-shirt to sear his skin, branding him. All other thoughts fell away, and he could only feel this insane woman’s touch on his chest. Then another consideration burst into his mind — this woman was dangerous, so very, very dangerous.

An Officer. His Wife. And the blonde bombshell who wants to be his girlfriend. What could possibly go wrong? Officer Ramon Garza seems to have it all – a beautiful wife, three kids, a great job on the police force. But when a woman comes onto him after a routine call, Ramon must make a decision about the direction of his life. Only he doesn’t know what this woman will do to have him. Find out in this steamy police romance!
