Today it’s an excerpt from my military romance, Fever.
“I would have brought, ya know, strawberries and cream if either of those had been an option. Proper picnic food.”
Balancing the plate on her lap, she greedily dug into the promise of food, the fork cramming three bites of the meatloaf in before she said. “Strawberries? Cream? That ain’t a picnic. No way, you ain’t reaching real picnic levels without a good mac & cheese, fried chicken, and barbecue at least.”
Both dimples emerged like glorious canyons, the dipping sunlight unable to pierce their depths. His eyes drifted from the road to her as he laughed, “A woman after my own heart.”
