First Kiss Friday

Every Friday I share the first kiss from a book. This week it’s Backup Offer by Liz Crowe.
An ex-boyfriend, his massive dog, her small house, and no hotel rooms in sight. What could go wrong?

Before Blair could protest or turn away, Brandis licked her upper lip, then sucked her lower lip into his mouth long enough to convince her that he meant it. She sighed and he felt her relax against him. “I’d like to kiss you, Blair. I mean I really really want to. But I won’t, if you don’t want it.” He brushed their lips together once more, teasing her with the tip of his tongue. She made the soft noise she always made—the one that turned him on, the noise he wished he could bottle, pour in his coffee every morning, sprinkle on his food every night. “I’ll take it as a yes,” he whispered against her neck.
“Yes,” she whispered back, before slanting her lips over his and invading his mouth with her tongue, making him groan as his mind went blank and his ears deaf, his eyes blind for anything not Blair. He scooped her up, carried her into her bedroom, and laid her on the bed, never once breaking their lip lock. She smiled, but kept her eyes closed.
“Look at me,” he said.
She opened her eyes, and their brown depths were full of so much emotion he wished she’d just spill it, say the words he could see in them. But he knew she wouldn’t. She was too scared, and it was all his fault.
