First Kiss Friday

Every Friday I share the first kiss from a book. This week it’s A Winter Rose by Amy Craig.
Charming Southerner woos Washington flower farmer.

Pulling her close, he lowered his head and brushed her lips with his own, waiting for confirmation. She tasted like sun-drenched honeysuckle and heady sweet wine, but he gave her space to pull back and set him straight.
She closed the distance between them.
Then the soft warmth of her skin anchored his senses. Permitting himself to savor the moment, he forgot about the cold dampness of the barn and the pain in his leg. He forgot about months of depression and the self-reflection chasing him across the country. The beautiful woman in his arms had looked mad enough to spit, but she was certainly kissing him back. Then she wasn’t.
She tore her lips from the warmth of his mouth. “You can’t just kiss me. I’m your boss.”
He laughed. “Not a problem, pretty lady. I quit.”
