First Kiss Friday

First Kiss Friday

»»————- ♡ ————-««
Every Friday I share the first kiss from a book. This week it’s Perks & Perils of Being a Princess by Kerstin Rosee.
A romantic adventure, in which a tomboy noblewoman swaps places with a princess during a kidnapping.

Grayson cursed and darted around the table, icicles clawing their way up his spine for the second time that day. He was next to her and on one knee in a flash, muttering her name.
“I’m fine. Just a bit clumsy.” She giggled again and held out her arms. “A little help, please.”

Grayson stood, pulling her up with him. He was scanning her to see if she had any injuries, but after rubbing the back of her head absentmindedly, she concentrated on patting down her dress, as if nothing had happened.

Damara looked up, and in the courtyard’s shade her eyes were like liquid gold. The day’s events caught up with him and a chink in the armour allowed impulse to take over. Grayson took a shaky breath; he leaned in and placed a gentle kiss on her lips.

A moment’s hesitation, a heartbeat at most, and she responded. It was all the encouragement Grayson needed. When he placed his lower lip to test the seam of her mouth, she yielded and the soft moan that escaped made the fine hair on his arms lift.

A slow step towards her closed the distance between them, forcing her to lift her head or break contact. Damara shifted to accommodate the new angle and surprised him when the tip of her tongue touched his lip. It was Grayson’s turn to moan, a low growl escaping his throat.

He ignored the urgent voice in the back of his mind advising him to stop while he still could and step away. Instead, Grayson let his thumb run down the smooth length of skin from her chin to the hollow of her neck. His hand curled around the back of her neck, pulling her further into him, while his mouth teased her lips far enough apart to allow his tongue to explore.
