“Jaya,” he breathed her name, his accent flitting through the J like a swallow diving into a meadow. Beaming his heartbreaking eyes into hers, he said, “I was worried about you.”
Leaping onto her toes, Jaya crushed her lips against his. It was no soft play, no easily explained away accident. She needed to kiss him, to feel his lips mold with hers, to know if… Rikuto’s hand lifted off her arm and she feared he would peel her off him, tell her she was out of line. She braced for the worst when his palm cupped her cheek. Tipping his head to the right, he guided her brute force kiss in for the rising heat of a summer day that she craved.
