“I’m not happy Heather and William’s mom needed emergency surgery, but I am glad you were the one to answer the call to help me.” Kari felt the heat radiating from him as he gravitated closer.

Angel lifted his hand, letting it hover close to her cheek without touching her. “Would I be out of line if I kissed you?”

She shook her head. “I can’t guarantee that nothing weird will happen if you do.”

The handsome grin spread over his mouth. “I’m willing to risk it.”

His fingers brushed her cheek, and he leaned slowly into her. The first brush of his mouth caused a tiny shiver to roll through her at the intimate contact.
