Sawyer propped his elbows on the table and buried his face in his hands. “I don’t want you to go.” His low, muffled voice made her question whether she’d heard him right.

“Sorry?”

He twisted his head, his troubled sage eyes meeting hers. “Stay. A bit longer.”

God, she wanted to more than anything, and it almost tore her heart out knowing she had no control. “I can’t.”

“Why? I promise I’ll go through everything. Thoroughly.”

He shot to his feet, grabbed her face between his big, hardworking hands, and crushed his mouth to hers. Their lips molded together like they were a perfect fit, and his tongue, oh God, it traced along the seam of her lips, demanding entry.

Brook couldn’t deny him, couldn’t deny such heated desire. She didn’t want to either, so she let him conquer her mouth.

Sawyer pulled her flush against his strong, hard body and she moaned. Her arms wound around his neck, and she held on, his erection pressing into her pelvis and sending a rush of wetness between her legs.

He ended the kiss way too early, and she rubbed against him in protest. With his forehead against hers, he said, “Yeah. We have chemistry. Undeniable, explosive chemistry.” His ragged, breathy voice added to the thrill of his touch.

“I tried to avoid you, avoid it, because you’re going to leave. But I can’t ignore the pull between us anymore.” His eyes were filled with so much hope. “Stay longer and let’s explore it.”
