First Kiss Friday

Today’s first kiss comes from The Keeper by Clarissa McKay

A new adult sports romance in which a small-town virgin falls for the goalkeeper of the soccer team

“It’s this one on the right,” I tell her as we approach my childhood home, the one I took over after my parents passed and Christi sold me her share of it. Sophie slows the car down, stopping right at the end of my driveway and my breath cages.

I turn my head, looking back at Sophie, who is already watching me. The glow of the gauges of the car light up her features, the locks of her dark hair that frame her face bouncing slightly from the car’s fan. My heartbeat picks up as I turn my body to face hers as well, unable to stop myself as I lean closer.

It accelerates when Sophie leans towards me as well.

“Sophie?” I ask, my voice quiet in the stillness of the car.

Her gaze seems to drop to my mouth. “Yes?” she whispers.

“I’m going to kiss you now.”

She only nods once, barely getting out an “Okay” before my lips slant over hers.

Every nerve in my body comes to life the moment my mouth touches hers, my hand coming up to cup her cheek as I tilt my head and part her lips with my own, and she’s so compliant as my tongue slides into her mouth. Her lips taste like remnants of strawberry lip gloss, her tongue warm against mine, and I can practically feel her melt into me as I kiss her.

The kiss isn’t rushed or frantic; it’s slow and savoring because I want to take my time. I want to memorize the feel of her lips against mine, the way her tongue caresses mine. She tastes as sweet as I imagined, and I already know that this one kiss will never be enough.

She’s intoxicating in the best way.
